five 6-inch pancakes after turning on ungreased presto griddle cooked nice and even @ 350F

This Presto Griddle Is a Great Choice

I’m not gonna lie; I love cooking many things with my cast iron pots and pans. Some foods like cornbread, searing meats, and pancakes are hard to beat when cooked in cast iron. If you keep them maintained, which isn’t a big deal, they will last many generations, too. But, as much as I love my cast iron pans, this Presto Griddle is a Great Choice if you are pressed for time and need to cook a lot of food quickly.

More Quality Cooking Surface

The pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage patties, hashbrowns, and grilled cheese sandwiches cook perfectly on my new electric griddle, and the large surface area means big batches are ready much quicker, too. Here are a few photos of the Presto Tilt & Fold electric griddle cooking pancakes (Alton Brown Recipe) in larger 8-inch and medium 6-inch sizes. As you can see, the griddle did a really decent job of cooking evenly. It’s not perfect, but it’s good enough for me. So far, I’d say this Presto is a keeper!

Pancake cooking on cast iron pan
It’s hard to argue that anything cooks pancakes better than cast iron, but it’s not ideal when you need to cook many pancakes quickly. Some type of large griddle is needed for the large batch job.
Cast Iron Pan for pancakes
Cast Iron Pan for pancakes remains my top choice, but more surface area is needed to cook big batches for the family. In my situation, the Presto Tilt & Fold seemed the best bang for the buck to gain more cooking area.

Four larger 8-inch pancakes are cooking on the ungreased Presto Tilt & Fold Griddle set to 350F, and the wait is about 3-3-1/2 mins before flipping.
Just after turning four 8-inch pancakes on the griddle. Cooked fairly even and that makes me happy.
Here are the same four large pancakes after turning. I was pleased that they all cooked pretty evenly. I was displeased that I flubbed my flip on the lower right-side pancake! Ugh!

Presto Tilt & Fold Griddle Cleaning

The cleanup is about as straightforward as can be. I wiped it down after a bit of dawn and warm water, and it was good to go. Cleaning it was even easier than my cast iron pans!

Definitely a smart purchase so far

I’m pleased with the results and the price. There are units that cost 2 to 3 times more, and perhaps they have some advantages, but for approximately $65, I feel like this Presto Griddle is a really good value for the money.
